Expert documentation, preservation, and sales preparation Services
The scope of services varies, here is a general layout of the process:
→ Initial consultation (free)
→ Determine your needs & scope of services, which can include:
→ Inventorying: I use a spreadsheet, and can also take pictures and put links in the sheet. I do estimate grade, but am a conservative grader. With more valuable coins I may recommend you send the coins in for certification, also known as "slabbing", which helps greatly with preservation.
→ Appraisal / valuation: Sources for appraisal include key auction sites and resources such as graysheet. I appraise in ranges, and list my sources. The market constantly changes, so the key is inventorying and grading, not writing down a value that doesn't matter in five years.
→ Storage: Placement into holders, sending them off for certification (in your name, not mine).
→ Sale: I can help you with a sale and to determine where the best place is to sell your coins. I do not operate on a commission, and no one pays me finders fees, etc. For example, let's say you have a collection with a fair amount of bullion, some rare coins, and some bulk silver. I'll work with you to get the best price for your coins, and that may include national auction houses, area dealers, or area auctions. Over the years I have found the best way to sell a rare coin is to set a minimum and sell it at auction.
→ Estimate of time and cost. After we have agreement on scope. I may charge mileage depending on your location.
→ I come to you as often as is needed to finish. I will not take your collection with me.
Patience, Grasshopper. I do this part-time, so this can take a while, especially if it's a large collection.
